A note from Jay:
I am now mostly located in beautiful sunny Nelson and opened up a Massage Studio at our new home in Stoke.
I also offer Massage Therapy and coaching sessions from a boutique gym in town, called Miki D's Gym on Whakatu Square.
But I will still occasionally offer sessions at our Wellington Studio, e.g. relieving holidays etc., so please check the online schedule frequently. I will be back in Wellington in December'24!
I currently study towards my Coaching Certificate (with Brian Johnson / Heroic.us ) - much excitement ahead - watch this space..
In 2017, I studied with the Stretch-to-Win Institute in Toronto, graduating as FST Therapist (Fascial Stretch Therapy) - Level 1, now incorporating myofascial release work into the massage sessions.
I have completed several post-grad programmes, e.g. my Master Practitioner in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and a introductory Diploma in Hypnotherapy.
Both Therapeutic Modalities are very useful in addressing many psycho-somatic conditions and can help you overcome many limiting self-beliefs, habits & mind-patterns!
If you'd like to find out more, please contact me via my e.mail address for free 15-20min consultation!
In general, I have a strong interest in all things Outdoors, the Arts, Sports and Athletes.
I have worked with various teams and individual athletes, while practicing over the last 15 years, including The Hurricanes, The Phoenix & Pulse teams, and players from the All Blacks.
I have been the Massage Provider at the Royal NZ Ballet Company from 2008-2012, as part of their Health Team..and I loved it!! Providing regular Massage Sessions for Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation has proven to help maintain and sustain the Ballet Dancer's incredible & demanding performances.
Working there, closely together with the Physiotherapists from Te Aro Physiotherapy, has truly been an amazing learning experience.
Since 2015, I am the Massage Provider at World of Wearable Art (WOW).
For NLP/Coaching, Therapeutic Massage, FST, Reiki Energy Healing & Yoga Tuition:
On your initial appointment with me, you will be asked to fill in a Client History Form. This helps me to determine any current conditions that affect you at present, any recent or past-injuries and medications that you may take.
We will then assess your physical posture and the range of motion throughout your body.
We then start the Massage sessions with Myo-Fascial Releases (a technique without using oils or waxes), then gently introducing massage techniques that uses massage balms & lotions.
In Trigger Point Therapy, I often use Magnesium oil, to achieve deeper warming and releasing of muscular knots.
For your deeper mental relaxation, I often sprinkle a drop of Lavender under the Face Cradle.
Please let me know if you have any allergies or sensitivities to certain oils or waxes.
We can now also include Acupressure in our Massage Sessions, so to address very specific muscle groups more effectively.
Jay offers now also FST (Fascial Stretch Therapy - a table-based facilitated stretching technique) as a complete treatment method. This is performed while the client wears comfortable clothing (e.g. shorts/sports bra), this is very similar to a Thai Yoga Massage, but on a Massage Table.
On follow-up sessions, we will re-assess any changes + progressions and we will determine together any adjustments to the treatments as required.
If appropriate, we suggest and refer you to other entrusted health professionals; including Physiotherapists, Osteopath, Podiatrists, Naturopath, Sports Doctors, Counsellors, Yoga Teachers and Personal Trainers.
We are looking forward to working with you soon for a Sports-, Treatment- or Relaxation Massage, or try our Life Coaching or NLP consultations to address and effectively change underlying and in-constructive mind patterns.
I look forward to working with you soon. Be well. 😊🙏 Jay
